Sunrise Children's Village > Projects > Sewing School

The Sewing School started off with a donation of 2 treadle sewing machines and we now have 15 machines. A woman teaches the girls 5 days a week for half a day. Girls from surrounding villages turn up in droves for their lessons and it is wonderful capacity building for Sunrise to create goodwill with our neighbours.

It is our policy that girls take a sewing machine with them as their trousseau when they leave us to work, so it is even more important to have more sewing machines donated.

Once again, all it takes to enlarge the Sewing School project is money, to fund sewing machines and more teachers!
