Deserted by father, mother arrested for child trafficking
Three children, 2 girls and a boy aged 10, 11 and 12 had been deserted by their father years ago and their mother was arrested and imprisoned for child trafficking. Their 20-year-old sister was working as a prostitute in a karaoke bar and was left to care for her siblings who lived with her in a small space at the back of the bar where she plied her trade. The older 12-year-old girl was definitely being trained to work in the bar and would have become a prostitute like her sister. When we heard the story we were able to get the mother in prison to sign the papers necessary in order for us to have the children come to live with us at Sunrise Angkor.
Sunrise is very excited to announce the impending release of our new CD: Sunrise Musicians of Cambodia Khmer Classical Songs. Click here for details.
